After breakfast, we begin our sightseeing at the Hall of Fame (India Army-constructed museum) near Leh, which is a must-see for all Indians. From there, we continue on to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, which is located 22 kilometers from Leh and at an elevation of 3600 meters. It was built in honor of Guru Nanak Dev ji and is tucked away deep in the Himalayas. After four more kilometers of driving, we arrived at Magnetic Hill, which defies gravity. A well-known confluence of two rivers can be seen as you continue past Magnetic Hills, just before Nimmu Village. The Indus River originates in Tibet (left), while the Zanskar River originates in Zanskar Valley (right). We travel to Alchi Gompa after seeing Confluence. This village's temple complex, which dates back to the 11th century, is the most renowned of Ladakh's monasteries. We returned to Leh after our visit to Alchi, stopping along the way to see the 25-foot Lord gold-covered Buddha statue at Likir Monastery, which was constructed in the eleventh century and rebuilt in the eighteenth. We return to Leh by car later. Overnight and dinner at the Leh hotel.
Take a drive to Nubra Valley after breakfast. Around 39 kilometers from Leh, the road that leads to Nubra Valley crosses over Khardung La, the world's highest motorable road, at 5,602 meters (18,390 feet). Ldumra, or the valley of flowers, is another name for Nubra Valley. We settle into our camp for the night when we get at Nubra. You can explore the small villages in the evening to get a sense of how people live in this region of the world. Spend the night in the hotel or camp.
We leave the camp or hotel after an early breakfast and head towards Hunder, where you can ride a double-humped Bacren camel over the sand dunes of this high-altitude desert with snow-capped mountains in the distance. Stop at Diskit, the Nubra Valley's headquarters town, on the way back. Later, we travel through Agham and Shyok Valley on our way to Pangong Tso. Although the road conditions in some places are pretty difficult (towards the Nubra side), the trip is unquestionably very picturesque. Have dinner and spend the night at the hotel.
We spend the morning exploring the lake's magnificence before driving back to Leh via Changla Pass, which is 5486 meters high. On the way, we stop at Hemis Gompa, the largest monastic foundation of the Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism. Additionally, we drive five kilometers across a magnificent terrain to Shey Palace, the historic capital of Ladakh, and three idiots Rancho School. Magnetic Hill is a strange and fun place near Leh. It looks like cars go uphill on their own, even when the engine is off. This happens because of an optical illusion. Many tourists stop here to try it for themselves. The road and mountains around it are also very scenic. It's a quick, fun stop during your Ladakh trip.
05
